Workers board the train in Santa Ines (Maranhao) towards Maraba (Para). This is a typical journey taken by thousands of poor people from Maranhao and Piaui states towards south Para, an area perceived as an "eldorado" for the many employment opportunities. As some of them end up becoming trapped in slavery conditions, the line has received the nickname "Slavery Express" by those fightng the problem.
