Gesio and brother Milton at their backyard in Harlesden, London. "The day Jean was killed, it was a Friday, I made my last call to his number at 12:45 am. I left a message on his answering machine because I was worried. We were supposed to work together during the day fixing an alarm and he didn't show up. We had arranged that I was going to collect him at Kilburn station in the morning and I was supposed to wait for his call to then pick him up at the station. I waited all day and at night I was tired and went to bed, but left my phone on the floor near my bed in case he called me. When I had just started to sleep the phone rang. I thought it was Jean. It was a policeman. He wanted to meet up with me saying there was something urgent he would like to talk to me, related to the terrorist attacks. I thought 'what do I have to do with it?' A lot of people have my number so I initially thought perhaps someone would have been in trouble. The policeman drove from Brixton and soon arrived in my place. He then told me that Jean had been killed but didn't give me much more information. Of course I couldn't sleep all night and next morning I went to see Jean's cousins who shared a flat with him in South London. They knew nothing about it. I had to give them the terrible news. We then went to the police together and later we all went to recognise Jean's body. One of Jean's cousin collapsed when she saw him dead. It took us some time to understand what we were going through." 28.08.2005
